Carrot Zinger Smoothie
FOOD AS MEDICINE: The health benefits of carrots are numerous, but they are best known for their antioxidant qualities. Beta-carotene is a compound found in orange-yellow fleshed produce that has a wide-range of disease-fighting qualities. Aside from the carotenoids, carrots have a compound called polyacetylenes, which have proven anti-cancer qualities. Beyond their plant-based antioxidants, carrots are also a great source of vitamins A, K and C. A win-win all the way!
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond or coconut milk
- 2 whole medium carrots, chopped
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp powdered turmeric
- 1 small green apple, chopped
- 1 scoop plant-based protein
- 1 scoop collagen or L-glutamine powder
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Place all the ingredients in a high power lender
- Blend on high till well mixed
- Serve chilled
TIP: If the smoothie gets too think when lending, add more water to achieve your desired consistency
